When days are active and the wind smells of the sea, meals can be simple. This Happi Bowl combines rice, lentils and vegetables into a gentle base that’s easy to prepare and works well even when traveling with limited kitchen equipment.
It’s not meant to replace a fully balanced long-term diet but rather serves as a fresh addition – simple, tested by Tobyas and rated with “paws up”.

Ingredients (approx. 4 portions for a 25-30 kg dog)
- 80 g rice
- 60 g red lentils
- 2 medium potatoes (about 300 g)
- 2 carrots
- 1 small broccoli
- 100-150 g plain tofu
- 1 tbsp ground flaxseed
- water
- a few drops vegan omega-3 oil (optional, if needed)
Instructions
- Rinse the rice and lentils thoroughly and place them in a pot with at least 3 liters capacity.
- Peel the potatoes, dice them and add them to the pot.
- Slice the carrots and add them as well.
- Cover everything with about 700–800 ml water, bring to a boil with the lid on.
- Reduce the heat and let it simmer gently for 20 minutes.
- Meanwhile, wash and chop the broccoli and dice the tofu.
- Add both to the pot and cook for another 8–10 minutes.
- Remove from the heat and stir in the ground flaxseed.
- Important: Let the bowl cool before serving.
Note
This bowl works well as a fresh addition or combined with a balanced complete dog food.
For long-term nutritional balance, minerals, vitamin B12, vitamin D and omega-3 should be supplemented when needed.
